We have had an excellent semester VT SHPE! Currently we have over 70 members who have paid their chapter dues! That is just about a 60% increase in membership since the past year! We are the best SHPE familia Virginia Tech has ever seen! Keep up the good work and study hard for finals.

The VT-SHPE chapter provides academic, professional, and personal support to our members in the Virginia Tech campus. We aim to prepare the future engineer by fostering academic support, networking opportunities, and community outreach initiatives to those people seeking higher
education. Our chapter allows young Latino students to develop into well rounded and effective leaders through our student government which handles the chapterâs administrative and executive affairs.
Furthermore, our officers and members are active participants in SHPE, Inc leadership conferences held on a semester basis. At Virginia Tech we are readily involved with the growing Hispanic community and
seek to close the gap between Hispanic and non-Hispanic engineers. We seek to produce high-quality Hispanic engineers who will not only be filled with technical talent, but also with awareness and the courage to better themselves and the community around them.
The SHPE Conference is the major event for the Society of Hispanic Professional Engineers, Inc. and the largest technical and career conference for Hispanics in the country.
Each year, the SHPE Conference attracts over 5,000 engineering professionals, students and corporate representatives. The conference is an opportunity for engineering companies and corporations to recruit top talent from SHPE membership. It also provides educational, technical and career opportunities for professional and student engineers.
The HENAAC Conference was established in 1989 as a means of identifying, honoring, and documenting the contributions of outstanding Hispanic American science, engineering, technology and math professionals. Corporations, government agencies, academic institutions, the military, and the business community-at-large have submitted thousands of nominees over the last 19 years for this very prestigious recognition.Â
The HENAAC acronym stands for the Hispanic Engineer National Achievement Awards Conference. This important conference will give students the opportunity to show off their skills and also get excellent experience from information sessions, companies, and other students in attendance.
